It’s just that simple….wait patiently through the winter for the first warm days of spring and then get busy pruning, dividing and planting all the great plants you’ve collected and babied all through the cold, rainy wintery season. STILL WAITING!!…………..Where,oh where are those warm spring days? Up one day and down the next it’s beginning to feel as if we’ll wake up one morning to hot sun and 90 degrees having missed spring completely.
Amelia and I have much to look forward to though. Her beautiful garden is on the National Garden Conservancy Open Garden Days Tour on April 13th and 14th and as she truly has what one would call a ‘Spring garden’ it should be spectacular on those 2 days.
A portion of the proceeds from sales of the tickets goes to benefit the J.C.Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh,NC so come out and join us for the fun and help the Arboretum at the same time.
Saturday,April 13 from 9am until 5pm and Sunday from noon until 5pm. tickets are $5 per garden or $25 for a book of 6 which can be used for any open garden in any state.
The following week we celebrate 7th Annual Open Garden and Art Sale in Amelia’s garden along with 11 other artists and craftspeople.Jewelry….sterling silver and glass; Garden sculpture….cement, concrete, metal and ceramic; handcrafted birdhouses….cedar and ceramic; hand turned wooden objects; botanical art; hand made garden tools and,of course, our hypertufa troughs and lots of plants for shade and sun. It’s all there and another great opportunity to stroll through the beautiful shady and woodland gardens of Amelia Lane.
The show begins at 9am on Saturday,April 20th and lasts until 4pm. Come early to get the best chance at great garden art and terrific plants. Hope to see you in the garden.
